Like, it's just really impractical to have them because you can't fit decent outfits in them, so they're just terrible in combat and come with terrible shields and weapons, overheat badly if you try and cram decent stuff into them, so they' just always lag behind because you can't fit more fuel into them, or overheat and be stuck in previous systems, plus getting destroyed instantly when you try to actually use them. Korath fighters are fairly easy to get and they're the best, so you can go to the edge of Syndicate space and farm the Korath for their stuff and you can get jump drives, the best fighters, and Raiders if you want them (not really the best ship for a fleet but they come with decent stuff installed so you don't need to fiddle around with them too much).įree Worlds carriers from Tarazed (roosts, skeins, etc) have a lot of fighter bays but they really suck. But you burn through fighters and drones pretty fast, so just keep capturing a bunch when you run into them (disabled combat drones and stuff are everywhere).

If you want a ship with the most fighter bays, drone bays, and that kind of thing then you can capture a few Republic capital ships during the free worlds campaign (Carriers, or Cruisers perhaps). If you can get like a few of those then you can put some fighters in them (2 bays each) and they have good stuff already in them (including korath fighters, pretty sure they're the best fighter) so they're a fairly decent ship. And like, some of the best cooling systems.
Korath Raiders are really easy to capture (especially if you have a bactrian, damn) and they also come equipped with a whole bunch of goodies such as jump drives and cool korath weapons. Capturing in Endless Sky is overpowered, letting you create fleets of optimized alien ships that just cheese over the storyline.
